THE FABOU EXPERIENCE

So what’s all the fuss about this five letter word that I bet most mispronounce at the very first attempt? Yes, what appears to be a short version of the complete word “Fabulous” is actually far off from the meaning of this particular word. “FABOU” simply means Fashion from a business perspective. In this day and age where self-employment is the stuff of many, the youth especially are bequeathed with the challenging task of finding a means of financial stability in the face of the high rates of youth unemployment. So why FABOU? Simply because we as Young Possible believe that the young people’s passion for fashion can be transformed into a tool of economic empowerment and societal impact. The event’s prime purpose is to create a platform for budding young designers, bloggers and enthusiasts alike to interact with and channel their questions to the established professionals in this most exciting arena.

As for what to expect, what’s a fashion event without a runway? A designer’s lane of success upon which her specific tastes and appeal thrive model after model as they showcase their life’s passion. On this note look forward to a catalogue of designers showcasing on this particular day. We are especially looking forward to seeing the work of young designers such as Kache Harrison of CHEKA BY KACHE and Eve_Maya Designs alongside big names such as Tim Dafina of Dafina Fashions International and Nick Ondu Sartorial. All these designers will get to share their very specific and diverse tastes with all those in attendance. To sample some of their work look out for their features on our different social media platforms.

Now more often than not, the ideal fashion event perhaps ends on the runway but FABOU gives you a sophisticated edge of interaction. Perhaps the most pivotal segment of the entire event, an interactive session between a panel consisting the who’s who in the fashion industry will be in place. These will range from renowned designers who’ve made their presence felt in this arena through their rich works of art and in-depth passion, not to mention focus and dedication. The perfect role models for the youth to embody and get to work establishing themselves and following in the footsteps of the likes of Anne McCreath, founder of KikoRomeo, Lynette Anderson who started the Nairobi Fashion Market, Frankie Saiyalel Kenyan top male blogger and many more professionals. The panel will take questions from the assembled audience and share their experiences in the business so as to equip the agile young minds with the necessary do’s and dont’s to make it in the fashion business. The panel members will also share some of the tips and knowledge they have acquired over the years through experience as they endeavored to make a business out of their passion for fashion. Be sure to come well-prepared with all the questions you need answer so as to fully learn and benefit from this panel discussion.
